Nice bike.Is that a hub motor on the front wheel? If so what wattage and what batteries are you using?Top speed? Max range? Good on hills? I live in a HILLY town. Have recumbent trike with a 50cc Honda 4 stroke.Get`s over 100mpg...geared for the hills so top speed only 15mph but pulls the steepest of hills. I love it.Have a trailer too and do most of my town travel/errands when weather permits. Would like to hear all the details about your bike as I love the quiet of electric bikes. Peace. ~ dale
I will not know the miles until it takes to the road. I had a bit of a problem with the transfer of the twist grip to the control pot. Fixed that now.
The motor is a 24v 90 rpm gear motor from bodine. I am using 4 12v 18ah batts grouped as 24v 36ah with a controller that has current limiting as well. That way I can selelct how much it can draw.
As for will it hit the hills good, not sure there either. I dont have much in that area here. Mostly flat with mild hills. I will keep you posted on what I find as I do it.

More info on the Batteries and motor? Will it climb steep hills and for how many miles?I still want an electric bike but the hills in my town are numerous and steep. ~ dale
The bike no, the rest yes. I started out with a Schwinn OC Chopper frame as its heavy duty and added the platform in the bottom to hold the motor and batteries. The cover plate has the controller underneath it. I have had a small problem trying to figure out just how to adjust the speed control pot with the twist grip. Thats done now.
I found the 90 rpm gear motor at a surpluss house. Used a gear cluster from another bike for gear down and adjustability. Four deep cycle 12v 18ah gels for power setup as two groups of 24v at 36ah. The controller has an adjustment for current limiting so I can set to what level I wish.
Has been a fun project but have had many failures in finding a motor that would do the job. Considering where I have been with it, I almost think it would be easier to use off the shelf 24v hub motors on front and back. I am not in health to be able to peddle a bike any more so have to rely on electric only.
Using hub motors will make it so you can have disc brakes on front and back as well. Right now I only will have front brakes. The other brakes would be useless with this kind of weight. I have 60lbs of batteries alone.

Did you build this electric bike? Please post details on the forum. I'd love to learn more about it. Thanks.
