Getting started, Alternative Energy
Posted On: 11/29/2008 07:38 AM

I feel that sustainablity is as much about each of us doing what we can in curtailing waste as it is about each of us doing what is avalable where we are!  Adding insolation, replacing lightbulbs with CFL and LED lamps (and turning them off when not using them),  LEARNING TO COMBINE ERRAND TRIPS AND WORK CLOSER TO HOME SO WE REDUCE MILES DRIVEN.

Anemoi-electric, anemoi is the greek source wind like hydro is water, Solar-voltaic & thermal, bio-digested methane, and alcohol are technologys that is very scallable and avalable to most.  Nuclear, geo-thermal/electric, tidal and Hydro-electric take substantial facilitits to use and therefor are mostly left up to the utility companies!  Our chances of making them change are not that great because they have huge investment in obsolete fosel fuel power plants.

Another area we each can make a difference is networking to help get the word of new technologies out.  I have herd of a solar cell that can be made at home.  Every whare I have looked for the recipe but they want to sell me books on how th screen print or other related items.  Maybe this site will be a forum for USEFUL information for the DIY type!

Your right Bryan, there is alot of things we can do @ home, but alot of the info is for sale! We all need to network our ideas, and pass it along so other people can learn the prosess and implement it ! I was going to ask my energy friends to all look on the net and find out where we can buy the chipped solar cells in bulk, and make the frames and solider them together our selves and save alot of money! I had some info on my laptop and it was stolen out of my car,and now i can't find the supplyers info! There is nothing wrong with the chipped ones, but the won't put a chipped 1 in their panels. They come sealed, and staked together in wax. You are on the same wave length as me,about the printed solar cells. I will find out where and how to get the info so we can print our own! There is a new plant in Phenoix Arozonia that is printing them! If they can do it ,we can do it is my mentalaty! Keep up the good work< Darren
