14 INCH WIND TURBINE AGAINST THE 14 BY 14 INCH ENERGY PROPHECY :Wind Turbine 2.7 to 1 gear ratio ,Wind Speed 5 MPH Volts 0 would not turn ,Wind Speed 8 MPH Volts 2.5 Danger turning to fast ,Wind Speed 12 MPH Volts 3.3 flying apart had to shut it down. :Energy Prophecy 2.7 to 1 gear ratio ,Wind Speed 5 MPH Volts .3 gear ratio level to low ,Wind Speed 8 MPH Volts .5 turned fast, but little energy created ,Wind Spe... I have competed the torque testing to the maximum level of gear ratio my converter was capable of producing. The Energy prophecy looks like in higher wind it could function using even a higher gear ratio. The Energy Prophecy showed that it will work well in low winds that Wind Turbine will not turn. The Energy prophecy completely out performed the Wind turbine in high wind comparing both Prototypes at there maximum effective Gear Ratio. The evidence is overwhelming that the Energy Prophecy will... Read More
I did some pretesting of the 14 inch wind turbine under the high torque situation. It would not spin even after I gave it a running start. I backed down the gear ratio to a point that the Wind Turbine had enough torque to turn it generator properly. I will change the test to check performance at increasing gear ratios. I have started putting together the 14 Inch Energy Prophecy for the testing. It will have 24 6 inch tapered blade mounted 1 inch up it mounting pole.(2 1/2" on bottom,3 1/2" on t... Read More
I have put together the 14 inch wind turbine for the high torque testing. The belt driven torque converter I bought will need a little work, because the belts are slipping. I tried to find model Wind turbine blades, but I could not find any with blades around this size. I will be using a 14 inch Airscrew model airplane propeller as a Wind Turbine. I have bought some aluminum tubes from the Hobby Shop to use as the poles to hold the blades on the 14 inch Energy Prophecy. I have an existing 18 in... Read More
The overweight 38 inch Energy Prophecy Prototype sheared off another 1/2 inch deck lag bolt. These lag bolts are designed for heavy loads on decks. I have had them break on other prototypes in the past and I will have to find something stronger to use. It must be the combination of torque, weight and movement that makes them fail. It is December in Minnesota and I will need to start over from scratch in the spring on the 38 inch wind testing project. I am going to move my testing back in doors... Read More
