The Best Natural Resource on Earth
Posted On 05/09/2009 12:41 AM by JimmyjamGE

The following is a letter that I sent in to Every legislator from the state level up to President Obama, regarding Hemp. Hemp is quite possibly the best natural resource on earth, but do your own research and draw your own conclusions.

Please take the time to send one yourself after you have finished reading, and feel free to copy any or all of this letter. This is extremely easy to accomplish at www.change.org by searching the site for Legalize Marijuana.

Much more interesting information can also be found at panacea-bocaf.org or hempglobalsolutions.com or mpp.org

Enjoy....

This is not a Generic Letter, I have only used part of their presented format, and edited the rest to bring forth some short but very pertinent points.
It is understood that while marijuana has been essentially illegal since 1937, the prohibition of this plant has not worked.  There have been studies done that prove it has medical uses, if it didn't then the synthetic drug Marinol would not exist.  It has also been proven that in recreational use it does less harm than alcohol.

Please look at how much our government spends on trying to fight something that is of no threat to our society.  Realize how the legalization of this plant could pay for itself literally hundreds of times over. By legalizing weed you will revitalize our economy from the ground up. Agriculture starts to build our GDP, and this plant doesn't have a single bit that goes to waste and will cut down on harmful pesticides being used in this country. Then you have the manufacturing and processing the 50,000 products and uses for Hemp**. Next comes the research and development to improve the already known products and uses, as well as discovering new ones.

The three final points I hit on are the most important yet, and I ask how any person, possessing a heart or a consciense, after hearing them could look down on this wonderful plant? Hemp's nutritional value as a staple to anyone's diet, could wipe out malnourishment in this country and make huge strides in the fight against child hunger***. You would end the suffering of non-violent "Criminals" (I use the term only b/c that's how they're viewed in the eye of the judicial system) because prison is not geared towards rehabilitation, it is a nasty and violent place, especially to a non-violent pothead. Simultaneously, you would be re-directing those tax dollars we were talking about earlier****. Finally, you would be easing the suffering of patients who would consume it to help ease their afflictions. And I have not heard of any negative side effects when it is consumed in a processed form (I.E. Hemp Oil which is different from Hemp seed oil), while every pharmaceutical remedy seems to come with side effects as detremental as the ailment itself.

Don't be afraid to stand up and say this to your fellow politicians.  We, your constituents, are asking you to do this for us and for our country.

Sincerely,

*February ,1938, Popular Mechanics, "Hemp:The Billion Dollar Crop" This was the first time any US crop had ever been called a billion dollar crop. What's a Billion dollars in 1937 worth today?
Also, They published the article because they weren't aware hemp was already illegal thanks to the lobbying efforts of DuPont and Rockefeller.

** panacea-bocaf.org/hempproduction.htm
As well as a much more detailed story of hemp by an acclaimed international organization.
*** panacea-bocaf.org/hempproduction.htm
You can also find this information from multiple other sources. 1 Lb (or 16 oz. of hemp seed) contains the Essential Amino Acids, Omega 3's and Omega 6's an adult male requires for 2 weeks (how far does a pound of meat go?)
No Other single known Plant can accomplish that!

**** tv.mpp.org/shorts/tax-and-regulate-marijuana/
Now if approximately 1/3 of the money spent in the war on drugs is just on marijuana, then calculate what saving that and making an additional 6 Billion (or more) could do.
Now think about all those productive citizens who you were paying to incarcerate, that are now going to be tax-paying working citizens. Jobs will be more abundant with industry, and there record will not be tarnished because the non-violent crime will be expunged.

Close Bryan,
But not 100% acurate.
Hemp is the name for the plant in general. Industrial Hemp is a strain that I was very fond of until I discovered it's true nature. It is inferior to cannabis Sativa. The sativa strains of Hemp contain the highest resin and seed content, as well as growing the biggest and producing the most fiber. Industrial Hemp, which is not nearly as productive, does not contain much THC at all though. Where as the typical psychoactive strains of cannabis (those would be the strains that get you "high")  contain 5-20% THC, industrial must contain no more than 0.05%.

Also, not only was the government giving hemp seeds to ALL farmers, but they even excused farmers and their children from active duty who were cultivating Hemp on the Homefront.

Finally, it wasn't just Nylon rope, it was many products that were made using oil: it was also paper from trees, plastic, and fertilizers that were needed to grow inferior crops (see: cotton). On top of this, the Rockefellers were making all sorts of treaties in the middle east at this time (the end of the 20's and beginning of the 30's). The reason for this was to attain that "Black Gold" we know as oil at much cheaper prices.

If you would like any further knowledge on the subject I can refer you to more sites, books, or videos for reference.

Marijuana is the leaves and hemp is the stalk,  During WWII, due to supply disruptuions of the war, the government was GIVING hemp seeds to tobaco farmers to grow it domesticaly.  But along comes DuPont Chemical was trying to sell their new invention, nylon rope, to the Navy. The Navy would not go for it, so DuPonts's lobbyist, by pointion out marijuna's "addictive" nature,as if tabaco isn't,  got it made illigal  This greatly reduced their competion to supply rope to the Navy.
