Solar Power
Posted On 10/20/2008 03:40 AM by suncooker

ith our energy crisis getting worse day by day, it’s up to all of us to work together find alternative energy solutions.  There is no one energy solution.  It will take a variety of alternative energy and renewable energy sources.  Think about transportation…The idea of electric cars is appealing, but at this time, we don’t have the resources to recharge all of the electric cars if everyone had an electric car.  However, as our wind farms grow and more wind power is generated that will help… and as the technology of our wind turbines improve…our wind farms will produce more electricity more efficiently.  But wind energy is just one part… Solar power is coming on strong and as our solar panels come down in price they’ll be more widespread.  Plus, as our technology in solar panels becomes more advanced and improved, they too will become more efficient.  As solar panels become more efficient in the future, the same square footage of solar photovoltaic cells in our solar panels will produce even more solar energy.  If a percentage of those driving electric cars had solar panels on their roof to generate solar power to recharge their electric cars that would help reduce the load on the energy grid.

I love the concept behind and the development of the thin film solar voltaic panels that are part of roofing systems. I want to see them on every house in America. Any investors out there want to help?

A recent edition of The Kiplinger Letter states that the solar industry is on the cusp of a boon. The industry is to benefit from a 30% tax credit for the purchase of solar power panels through December 2016. This credit was previously capped at $2000 but now has NO CEILING.

I'm encouraged to see more and more of the major auto makers exploring the production of electric and alternative fuel vehicles....too bad they weren't proactive enough to seriously work on this 20 years ago.

This morning I heard that Exon set another record for quarterly profits. Does anyone else think that oil companies may be using the shifting oil prices as an excuse to overly inflate gasoline prices and achieve record profits. While I like the free market system, I can see where someone could mount a good argument for regulatory controls on the oil and gas companies that may just be taking advantage of the public to achieve inflated profits....is colusion between the oil and gas companies possible?
